The Building Department performs building inspections and issues building permits. To arrange an inspection, or to speak with the Building Inspector, please call 250.245.6443. The Inspector is often in the field, so please leave a detailed message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.
In addition to completing the Building Permit application forms available below, the following documentation must accompany your application, unless specifically exempted by the Building Inspector. Completed applications can be dropped off at Public Works, 330 6th Avenue.
- 2 complete sets of construction drawings including all relevant elevations, floor plans, foundation plan and cross sections;
- 2 copies of the site plan indicating building setbacks from all property lines, water courses, banks, etc., and indicating any easements on the lot, and location and width of the driveway;
- Copy of truss layout complete with girder end loads and floor system layout if engineered products used;
- Copy of current property title search;
- Cross section of driveway indicating proposed grade;
- Plumbing isometric drawing if system not contractor installed. (Homeowner only permitted and house must not be for sale);
- A completed application to satisfy the Provincial Home Owner Protection Office when creating a dwelling unit.
