A new partnership between the Town of Ladysmith and a local, multidisciplinary health clinic will result in an expansion of the fitness centre at Frank Jameson Community Centre (FJCC) along with the introduction of a range of therapeutic services also at the community centre site.
Active Solutions Health + Sport offers chiropractic, physiotherapy, naturopathic medicine, massage therapy and acupuncture and other services and has experienced steady growth since opening in Ladysmith in May 2015.
“We are delighted to welcome such an innovative business into FJCC,” said Guillermo Ferrero, City Manager, Town of Ladysmith. “The new clinic will respond to our community’s demand for integrated healthcare services, while restructuring of the previous lease space will allow the Town to expand and improve the fitness facilities in order to accommodate our residents’ healthy, active lifestyles.”
The 800-square-foot lease space at the community centre became available on April 30, 2017. In following the 2016 Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, which confirmed the community’s desire to see the fitness facilities expand, Town staff presented a number of options and concepts in an effort to optimize the space. These options included public-private partnership opportunities aimed at benefiting Ladysmith residents.
“One of the issues that patients have difficulty with is making the transition from one on one rehabilitation to an active community setting,” said Rich Huggins, Owner and Physiotherapist, Active Solutions Health + Sport. “We believe that our new space at the Frank Jameson Community Centre will allow us to assist more patients with the transition to an active community setting with greater ease. “
