Stage 2 Water Restrictions Start on Monday, July 10

Stage 2 Watering Restrictions are in effect starting on July 10, 2017, for the Town of Ladysmith, Cowichan Valley Regional District (Shellwood and Saltair), Diamond Improvement District and Stz’uminus First Nation.

This is what is permitted during Stage 2:

  • Even numbered addresses can sprinkle their lawns from 7:00 am to 9:00 am OR 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday and Saturday.
  • Odd numbered addresses can sprinkle their lawns from 7:00 am to 9:00 am OR 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday and Sunday.
  • Trees, shrubs and flowers may be hand watered with a bucket, pail or spring-loaded spray nozzle between 7:00 am and 9:00 am OR 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm any day of the week to a maximum of 2 hours per day.
  • Micro or drip irrigation systems may be used anytime to a maximum of 4 hours per day.  (Note that soaker hoses do not count as drip irrigation)

These measures are being put in place to ensure reserves are maintained for anticipated hotter weather. Water levels at Holland Lake continue to be healthy for this time of the year, but peak demands during the morning and evening sprinkling times remain high.

We thank everyone for their cooperation with water conservation efforts.  Every Drop Counts!
