Town reminds public to stay safe during high winds

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for East Vancouver Island on Tuesday. Strong gusty winds reaching 90 km/h are forecast in the morning with conditions expected to taper off later in the day.

Ladysmith's trail system can present serious hazards during periods of inclement weather. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

We strongly advise members of the public to hold off using our local trail system when weather conditions deteriorate.

Severe rainfall may also cause creeks and streams to rise quickly and without warning. For your safety, please stay a safe distance from these watercourses and consider keeping your adventurous pet on a leash.

In the event of a trail closure due to weather, the Town posts public notices on our website and social media accounts. We may also post advisories at trailheads if it is safe.
