New strength machines to be installed at Fitness Centre

Ladysmith Parks, Recreation & Culture is ‘pumped’ to be upgrading the strength training machines in the Frank Jameson Community Centre Fitness Centre.

The Fitness Centre will temporarily close Thursday, April 13 and Friday, April 14 as the new plated machines are installed, and old models are removed.

Altogether, 12 new strength training machines are being installed next week, providing FJCC users with the latest and best in performance fitness equipment and ergonomic features – an important benefit as we strive to create an inclusive and welcoming fitness experience for the Ladysmith community.

An exciting addition to our updated range of fitness equipment offerings is a dip / chin-assist machine, which allows users to complete this body-weight exercise more easily by adding or removing plated weights.

During the temporary closure, there will be opportunities for staff to be trained on these machines to ensure they are well-versed and knowledgeable to assist and instruct the public.

In 2022, the Fitness Centre had 22,992 total visits as LPRC staff supported patrons in pursuit of their healthy lifestyle goals.

The Town was able to take advantage of receiving the trade-in value for the used strength machines, which had reached the end of their lifespan at 15 years; the estimated entire project cost is just under $70,000.
