Garbage Quick Facts

A charge of fourteen ($14.00) dollars per unit per month is imposed on every owner of a dwelling unit.  This covers - one 77 litre (44 pound) container per household picked up every second week.  If you have extra garbage, tickets can be purchased for $2.00 or a book of 6 for $10.00, at City Hall, 410 Esplanade, or Frank Jameson Community Centre, 810 6th Avenue.  All garbage cans must have handles.   Acceptable garbage items are listed on the collection schedule below, while our  fact sheet helps you know what you can recycle or put into the organics collection.

Not sure what route you are on?  Find out on the "Collections Route by Street" document, look for your road and it will show you the colour and number of your schedule.  Once you know which schedule is yours open the corresponding document.

Peerless Road Recycling Station

In 2013, the facility underwent a major renovation and expansion.  Peerless Road Depot is now the region's largest public recycling drop off depot, hosting 21 grade-separated bays and extensive covered areas.

Hours are as follows: (Excluding Holidays)
November 1 - March 31 Wednesday,
Saturday & Sunday
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
April 1 - October 31 Wednesday
to Sunday
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
