Town of Ladysmith handing out surprise Canada Day Celebration Kits

The Town of Ladysmith is giving away 'surprise' Canada Day Celebration Kits as we encourage residents to mark the holiday with only small gatherings of your close friends and family.

Due to COVID-19 and respect for physical distancing measures, the Town is taking a break this year from our annual July 1 festivities at Transfer Beach Park.

Instead, we've created special Canada Day Celebration Kitsfilled with delicious treats, activities and games to help you throw a birthday party in the comfort of your backyard.

The kits are available to be picked up while supplies last on June 29 and 30, 12-4 pm at the Frank Jameson Community Centre.

We're keeping the exact contents a surprise but each celebration kit is valued at over $10.

The majority of what's included in the kit has been sourced from local suppliers. By shopping local, the Town is supporting our small businesses during the economic recovery from COVID-19.

"Canada Day is a community celebration we all look forward to every summer as an opportunity to reflect on how fortunate we are to live in this great country.  This year more than ever we can be thankful for all of our frontline  healthcare workers who continue to keep us safe, and give us confidence that we will get through these uncertain times," said Mayor Aaron Stone. "On behalf of Council, Happy Canada Day on July 1 and enjoy decorating your home with these celebration kits."

We acknowledge the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage.
