Animal Control Services

Animal control services and pound facilities for Ladysmith are provided by Coastal Animal Control Services (CACS).

Dogs

All dogs in Ladysmith over 6 months of age must be licensed.

Dogs are not permitted on 1st Avenue during street closures for public events such as Ladysmith Days and Festival of Lights.

Additionally, owners of female dogs in heat must keep their dog securely inside a building and must not allow the dog to roam freely while in heat.

Cats

Cats do not need to be licensed in Ladysmith.

However, they should have some form of identification such as a collar, harness, tattoo, or microchip, to help ensure they can be returned to their owner if lost.

Lost Pet

If you lose your pet or find one in Ladysmith, please contact:

Every effort is made to contact the owner before the pet is taken to the pound.
