Committee Vacancies

Ladysmith Council is inviting applications from residents who would like to make Ladysmith a more accessible community.

The Town’s newly formed Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) has six vacancies, each for a two-year term, ending September 30, 2025. The goal of this Committee is to assist the town in identifying barriers to individuals, and to advise the Town on how to remove and prevent such barriers.

Members at large will be appointed by Council based on their experience and involvement related to accessibility issues. To the extent possible, the membership should reflect the following:

A.) At least half of the Committee members appointed should be persons with disabilities or persons representing disability-serving organization.
B.) At least one member appointed should be Indigenous.

Applications can be dropped off at City Hall or emailed to cs@ladysmith.ca until August 30, 2023.

The Accessibility Advisory Committee is a Select Committee of Council pursuant to section 142 of the Community Charter.
The primary function of the Accessibility Advisory Committee is to identify barriers to inclusion and accessibility, and to make recommendations to Council as to how to remove and prevent these barriers.
