Chlorine alarm testing Tuesday at new Water Filtration Plant site

The Town of Ladysmith is making residents aware that the chlorine alarm is being installed at the Water Filtration Plant on Tuesday (Dec. 18) and that testing could pose a disruption in the afternoon.

Staff have not determined how loud the alarm will be and if any neighbourhoods in the Town will be able to hear the alert signal. The new WFP is located near the Arbutus Reservoir.

Testing is scheduled to take place from 1-4 pm on Tuesday and the intent of the alarm is for workers and staff at the site.

Watch for updates on the Town’s website and social media accounts if the alarm is heard outside the immediate vicinity of the WFP site.

Residents should also be aware that all construction is being suspended at the Water Filtration Plant during the holiday break from Dec. 22 through to Jan. 1.

Ladysmith's new $13.3 Water Filtration Plan is a requirement of Island Health to ensure the municipality continues to provide safe, reliable drinking water and comply with the terms of our Water Supply Operating Permit.
