Ladysmith Council's Strategic Plan sets key priorities for the community

The Town of Ladysmith's 2020-2023 Strategic Plan is a progressive vision set by Council for improving the lives of residents in a thriving town, and provides clear direction and focus for Council and staff over the current term.

The Strategic Plan was adopted by Council at its meeting on Monday, November 4, 2019 and it advances projects centered on four key priorities: Infrastructure, Waterfront, Economy and Community.

"Climate change is a thread that weaves through many of our strategic priorities in this plan and as a Council we have committed to making Ladysmith a forward-looking leader for solutions that address and adapt to these changing weather patterns, head-on," said Mayor Aaron Stone.

"We look forward to more conversation and engagement around our Strategic Plan as we share with you our achievements and successes in our key priorities areas for the community."

Council also understands that key partnerships are important for accomplishing many of its strategic goals for the Town.

The Town and neighbours Stz'uminus First Nation are continuing to pursue opportunities to remediate our shared harbour - a significant step in the implementation of the Waterfront Area Plan, which is a pillar of the Strategic Plan.

Collaboration between the Town and its key partners, both local and regional, also support the Council's objective to make measurable progress on recommendations contained within the Ladysmith Economic Development Strategy, and address key issues like affordability and availability of childcare spaces.

Council understands that strengthened partnerships in the community will help best define Ladysmith a town that is safe, affordable and accessible for all ages, incomes and abilities.

An idyllic West Coast town, rich in both its history and natural assets, Ladysmith is one of the fastest growing communities in British Columbia.

Council's new motto as endorsed in the 2020-2023 Strategic Plan is: 'Celebrate our Present. Embrace our Future. Honour our Past.'

Also, in keeping with the Town's commitment to sustainability, copies of the 20-page Strategic Plan are being printed on paper stock that contains 100 per cent post-consumer waste.
