FJCC Fitness Centre reopening on June 8 by appointment only

The Frank Jameson Community Centre Fitness Centre will reopen in a limited capacity on Monday, June 8 with new protocols in place to promote physical distancing among patrons and staff, as well as the required sanitizing  of equipment.

Guided by recommendations from public health authorities, WorkSafe BC and the BC Recreation and Parks Association, the Town is inviting the public to return to the gym facilities by appointment only at this time.

Each appointment is for one hour and allows Parks, Recreation and Culture staff to ensure physical distancing by limiting the total number of patrons in the gym to a maximum of 8 people.

To register for an appointment to use the Fitness Centre, please  visit www.reccowichan.ca or call the FJCC at 250.245.6424.

New Protocols

Upon arrival at the FJCC, everyone will be asked to answer a few pre-screening questions to check for COVID-19 related symptoms, such as a runny nose, sneezing, cough, sore throat, fever and difficulty breathing.

The PRC team has missed you but please stay home if you’re feeling unwell.

Staff will also speak with you about best practices for hand hygiene, and sanitizing when sharing equipment so that all facility users feel comfortable.

While visiting the Fitness Centre, you will be provided with a personal cleaning bottle to carry at all times.  Please use it to sanitize any equipment you come into contact with during your workout – we appreciate your cooperation.

Wearing a mask while at the FJCC is not a requirement however we are encouraging everyone to limit touching their face as much as possible.

Following each one hour appointment block, staff will complete a thorough 30 minute deep clean of the gym and all equipment prior to the arrival of the next group of patrons.

To ensure proper physical distancing, we have made some changes to the layout of the Fitness Centre and removed a few pieces of cardio equipment.  At least one of every cardio machine has been for you to use.

We understand that this change may pose an inconvenience and ask that everyone work together to share the equipment.
