UPDATED: BC Wildfire responding to incident near Mt Hayes

BC Wildfire Service is responding to the Mt. Hayes wildfire (V62669) 4.5 kilometres northwest of Ladysmith. 
This highly visible fire has spread to an estimated 20 hectares in size since it started early this afternoon. 
BC Wildfire Service personnel are responding with support of contract firefighters, heavy equipment, and water tenders. 
Helicopters and air tankers took action earlier this evening. Ground crews will remain on the fire throughout the night.

BC Wildfire is responding a wildfire that has been reported near Mt Hayes in the Cowichan Valley Regional District.

The fire is visible from Town and we understand the concern of residents who are wanting to know the most up-to-date information.

The fire is estimated to be 1-2 hectares in size and BC Wildfire is responding with multiple helicopters and water aircraft.
