Town hosting Local Election Workshop for public, prospective candidates

The Town of Ladysmith is hosting an upcoming workshop for the public to learn more about our operations and to provide an overview of information specifically for prospective candidates in the upcoming General Local Election.

The Local Election Workshop will cover topics ranging from the current Council’s priorities, the role and responsibilities of local government, and what it’s like to serve on Council.

Town staff are hosting the session on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at City Hall starting at 6:30 pm.

Whether you’re interested in learning more about the Town’s operations or considering running for Council, everyone is welcome to attend.

All the information presented at the workshop will be posted on the Town’s website.

The General Local Election is coming up on October 15, 2022 and one Mayor and six councillors will be elected as the new Council for a four-year term.

When it comes to serving on Council, this important civic duty requires several hours a week preparing for meetings, responding to calls and emails, and conducting independent research on topics of public interest.

You can continue to stay up-to-date on the election and key dates by visiting the Election page on our website.

To reserve your spot for the Local Election Workshop, email vote@ladysmith.ca or call City Hall at 250-245.6400.  Space is limited so we encourage you to register early. Unable to attend ? Send us an email to stay informed on a potential second session later in the summer.
