Interested in running for Council? Nomination packages now available

Local General Elections are just around the corner and prospective candidates interested in running for Ladysmith Council are encouraged to pick up a Candidate Nomination Package.

On October 15, 2022, eligible Ladysmith voters will elect a Mayor and six members of Council to serve for a four-year term.

Candidate Nomination Packages are available online for download or you can obtain a printed copy by visiting City Hall. For Town of Ladysmith Mayor and Councillor positions, you will need two nominators who must be eligible voters in the Town of Ladysmith.

Completed nomination packages will only be accepted beginning 9:00am on Tuesday, August 30  until 4:00pm on Friday, September 9.

We strongly encourage candidates to schedule an appointment during this period to come into City Hall and we’ll review your forms to ensure they are complete.

The nomination process and running for Council may be new to you and staff are here to help.

As you proceed with completing the form, please email vote@ladysmith.ca with your questions or by calling the Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election Officers using the contact information in the package if you have any questions. Here you’ll find details on eligibility, key dates, and links useful information from the Province and Elections BC.

If you missed the first one in June, we have scheduled a second Election Workshop on Wednesday, August 24th in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 410 Esplanade.  This workshop will be valuable to potential candidates as well as members of the public who wish to learn more about elections or the Town’s operations.
