Town holding Rutti Park open house

The Town of Ladysmith is hosting an open house to discuss potential improvements to Rutti Park.

The open house will take place at Rutti Park on June 19, 2024 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

During the open house, residents will be able to share their feedback about the park and provide their thoughts about what it should look like in the future. There will also be an opportunity to talk to Town staff directly about the park and potential changes.

Why is the Town doing this?

The Town is working towards creating a Rutti Park Improvement Plan, which once completed, will define the park’s current amenities and identify potential improvements.

Earlier this year, the Town took the first step towards developing that plan by conducting an online survey that allowed residents the opportunity to rank five emerging themes (Natural Environment, Sustainability, Education and Play, Celebrate Culture, and Connectivity) and provide feedback. The open house on June 19 at Rutti Park is the next step in the process and is an opportunity for residents to provide feedback to Town staff in-person.

About Rutti Park

Located in south Ladysmith at the end of Rothdale Road just off Russell Road, the park features an open green space and pedestrian connection. The park sits on a section of the former farm established by Hugo Rutti over a century ago. The farm was in the family for five generations before it was purchased by the Town in 2003. In 2022, the Town officially dedicated the park in honour of the Rutti family and announced plans to begin a public engagement process with the local community to identify potential amenity improvements.
