Town discontinues X (formerly Twitter) account

Ladysmith, BC — The Town of Ladysmith has made the decision to discontinue its X (formerly Twitter) account, effective immediately.

This decision is due to evolving social media trends and shifting public preferences.

"After an extensive review of social media consumption habits and our internal data, we have decided to discontinue our X account and concentrate on the platforms that best serve the largest number of Ladysmith residents," says Nicholas Pescod, the Town's Communications & Engagement Specialist.

The Town’s X account (@TownofLadysmith) was launched in 2015 and served as a valuable external communications tool for many years. While no new content will be posted, the account will remain visible, allowing users the ability to look at old posts, if they choose.

The Town has secured a Bluesky account but has no plans to use it at this time.

Residents wishing to stay connected on social media are encouraged to follow the Town’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.

The Town has also launched Let’s Talk Ladysmith, an online engagement platform that allows residents to provide input and feedback on Town projects and initiatives.

The Town of Ladysmith remains firmly committed to engaging with residents and the media in an open, honest and transparent manner.
