Ladysmith, BC – Stage 2 water restrictions will be in place starting Monday, June 2, for the Town of Ladysmith, Stz’uminus First Nation, and the Diamond Improvement District, and will remain in effect until further notice.
Residents are expected to follow CVRD guidelines for watering times and avoid washing driveways, houses and sidewalks. Water restrictions are intended to help control water usage as demand increases with the hot, dry weather.
Under Stage 2, outdoor watering is not permitted between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm. This is because watering in the evening, nighttime or early morning reduces water wasted due to evaporation and spreads peak water use.
Lawn sprinkling is allowed for 2 hours per designated day (Wednesdays for even-numbered addresses and Sundays for odd-numbered addresses).
For a complete list on what is permitted under Stage 2, please visit https://www.ladysmith.ca/our-services/water.
The Town has been under Stage 1 water restrictions since May 1. The move to Stage 2 is in response to a recent spell of hot and dry weather in the area.
"We urge all residents to follow these water restrictions. These measures are in place to ensure we use water wisely during the hotter months. By watering only on designated days and during cooler times, we can significantly reduce waste and help ensure a reliable water supply for the whole community," says Nicholas Pescod, the Town’s Communications & Engagement Specialist.

The Town of Ladysmith respectfully acknowledges that we gather and work on the unceded territory of the Stz'uminus First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land.
