Ladysmith, BC – Ladysmith Fire Rescue has received $98,479.55 in funding through the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Next Generation 911 grant program to install Mobile Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) technology in its response vehicles.
The Mobile CAD system provides firefighters with real-time access to mission-critical information while en route to emergencies. It also ensures ongoing communication with dispatchers and department personnel, helping to reduce radio traffic and free up airtime for high-priority calls.
Funding for this initiative was provided by the Ministry of Citizens’ Services.
"This technology will enhance how Ladysmith Fire Rescue responds to emergencies by giving our crews faster, more reliable access to the information they need,” Mayor Deena Beeston said. “We’re grateful for this funding and the opportunity to improve our service to the community.”
