Ladysmith, BC — As part of Phase 1 of the Brown Drive Park improvements, the Town of Ladysmith will be installing a new pedestrian footbridge on the walking trail that crosses the creek beyond the Story Book Walk and recreational bike trails.
To ensure safe and efficient construction, the affected section of the trail will be closed starting September 2, until the bridge installation is complete.
"We’re excited to move forward with the installation of a new footbridge," said Nicholas Pescod, the Town’s Communications & Engagement Specialist. "Until now, trail users have had to cross the creek using logs or stepping stones. This new bridge will make exploring Brown Drive Park safer and more enjoyable for both residents and visitors."
Construction is expected to take approximately a week and a half, with the new footbridge scheduled to open on September 15. All work will be carried out in accordance with an Environmental Management Plan to protect the creek and ensure responsible construction practices.
