Ladysmith, BC — The Town of Ladysmith has successfully installed a new pedestrian footbridge at Brown Drive Park ahead of schedule.
The footbridge, located on the walking trail that crosses the creek beyond the Story Book Walk and recreational bike trails, is part of Phase 1 of the Brown Drive Park Kinsmen Playground Implementation Plan.
With the new bridge in place, park users, including families with strollers and those with mobility challenges, can now safely and easily cross the creek year-round, improving both accessibility and overall trail safety.
"We’re excited to see the new footbridge in place," says Nicholas Pescod, Communications & Engagement Specialist for the Town of Ladysmith. "As the largest improvement completed in Brown Drive Park to date, following the installation of water fountains, it will make our beloved park safer and more enjoyable for everyone."
To facilitate the installation, the trail was temporarily closed starting September 2 while contractors followed an approved environmental management plan, ensuring the fish habitat was not impacted.
The Town thanks the community for their patience during the week-long closure as the trail is now fully open to the public.
