Ladysmith, BC — The Town of Ladysmith is downgrading to Stage 2 water restrictions on Friday, October 3.
Water restrictions apply to the Town of Ladysmith, Stz’uminus First Nation, and the Diamond Improvement District, and will remain in effect until further notice.
Residents are expected to follow the Town of Ladysmith’s guidelines for watering times.
Under Stage 2, lawn sprinkling is allowed for two hours per designated day (Wednesdays for even-numbered addresses and Sundays for odd-numbered addresses). Micro or drip irrigation and hand watering of vegetable gardens and fruit trees is also allowed for up to four hours per day.
Outdoor watering is not permitted between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm. This is because watering in the evening, nighttime or early morning reduces water wasted due to evaporation and spreads peak water use.
For a complete list on what is and isn’t permitted under Stage 2, please visit https://www.ladysmith.ca/our-services/water/restrictions.
The Town has been under Stage 3 water restrictions since August 5. Stage 2 restrictions are being implemented due to lower water demand in the community because of cooler, wetter conditions.
For the latest news and updates, visit the Town’s website at www.ladysmith.ca, as well as Facebook and Instagram.
The Town of Ladysmith respectfully acknowledges that we gather and work on the unceded territory of the Stz'uminus First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land.
