Traffic Advisory: Davis Lagoon Bridge Repairs

Ladysmith, BC — The Town of Ladysmith is issuing the following traffic advisory for work occurring in Saltair that will impact motorists coming in and out of the community.

The Ministry of Transportation and Transit will be repairing the Davis Lagoon Bridge on Chemainus Road in Saltair from October 6 to October 24.

Work will include base repairs at both ends of the bridge and resurfacing of the bridge deck.

As a result, there will be a complete closure of the bridge from October 6 to October 15. A partial closure (single lane alternating traffic) will be in place from October 16 to October 24. During this time, detours will be available via North Davis Road and Henry Road.

“While the closure of the Davis Lagoon Bridge in any capacity is a major inconvenience to those who frequent that stretch of Chemainus Road, the work, once completed, should significantly improve the safety of the bridge,” says Mayor Deena Beeston.

The Town would like to remind residents that the Davis Lagoon Bridge is located outside the Town of Ladysmith’s municipal boundaries, and that the work is not being conducted on behalf of the Town.

Questions about the project should be directed to the Ministry of Transportation and Transit. For more information and updates on the project, visit www.drivebc.ca.
