Residents invited to provide feedback on Town website

Ladysmith, BC — The Town is moving forward with a comprehensive audit of its website as part of a long-term vision to redesign it into a highly accessible and user-friendly platform that will serve residents, businesses, and visitors for years to come.

The Town has hired KIMBO Design to conduct the website audit.

As part of the audit process, the Town and KIMBO are seeking feedback from residents on the existing website and have launched a survey that will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete. The goal of the survey is to identify what’s working well, what’s not, where improvements can be made, and what features users expect to see on a new website.

“Our community deserves a website that we can be proud of,” says Mayor Deena Beeston. “The audit and survey are the first steps toward creating a more accessible, user-friendly, and engaging platform that will make it easier for residents, businesses, and visitors to access the information and services they rely on.”

“We encourage all residents, business owners, and anyone with a vested interest in our community to complete the survey,” says Nicholas Pescod, the Town’s Communications & Engagement Specialist. “The Town’s website plays an important role in delivering services and sharing information to the community, and your feedback will directly help shape its future.”

“We’re excited to help shape a more inclusive and accessible online experience for the community of Ladysmith,” says Kim Pickett, Principal and Creative Director at KIMBO Design. “By engaging residents early in the process, the Town is taking an important step toward creating a website that truly reflects the needs of its users.”

The survey will be available from November 14 at 9:00 am until November 23 at 11:59 pm.

It can be accessed on Let’s Talk Ladysmith or directly at https://letstalk.ladysmith.ca/website-audit-and-redesign/surveys/website-survey.

You must create an account on Let’s Talk Ladysmith to participate. As part of the registration process, the Town requires basic demographic information to better understand who is providing feedback and ensure diverse voices are represented in decision-making. Demographic data is kept confidential.

Why are we doing this?

Our current website is no longer meeting community needs. It is not user-friendly, presents navigation challenges, and has limited accessibility features. These issues make it harder for residents, businesses, and visitors to efficiently access information and services. Before a full redesign can begin, an audit of the website is required. This is similar to completing preliminary design work before moving ahead with an infrastructure project.

What will the audit do?

The audit will evaluate the existing site’s structure, content, functionality, accessibility, and user experience. The findings will help identify strengths and weaknesses, ensuring that future redesign efforts are strategic, cost-effective, and aligned with community needs.

The results of the audit will also inform a future Request for Proposal for a full website redesign, which is anticipated for 2026.

Why was KIMBO Design chosen?

KIMBO was selected for its proven expertise in conducting website audits and leading redesigns for numerous municipalities across the province — including Qualicum Beach, Sidney, Squamish, and Ucluelet — resulting in websites that are highly accessible and easy to use.
