Ladysmith, BC – Imagine having your artwork on display for the entire community to see and appreciate.
The Town is inviting artists of all ages from Ladysmith, Stz’uminus and the surrounding area to submit designs for the 2026 Community Banner Program.
Designs must represent Ladysmith’s small-town charm, community life and diverse cultural heritage, while highlighting the Community Banner Program’s theme.
This year’s theme, “A Future Imagined,” invites artists to explore the question: “In a time of change, what do you see for the future of the Town of Ladysmith?” Artists are encouraged to imagine what will make Ladysmith special in the future while considering our small-town charm, coastal community life, and diverse cultural heritage.
The winning designs will be displayed along 1st Avenue for one year. Afterwards, the banners will be moved to Transfer Beach and 4th Avenue for a period of one year.
“The Community Banner Program is a fantastic opportunity for artists to share their creativity while contributing to the beautification and identity of our community,” says Nicholas Pescod, the Town’s Communications & Engagement Specialist.
An honorarium of $1,500 will be awarded to the artist whose designs are chosen by the Selection Committee. A plaque will also be installed along 1st Avenue explaining the designs.
Artists must submit a completed entry form that includes their designs to bid@ladysmith.ca before 4:00 pm on Friday, January 30, 2026.
