New residential waste collection service provider starting in 2026

Ladysmith, BC — Town of Ladysmith is advising residents of upcoming changes to residential waste collection services in the community.

Beginning on January 1, 2026, GFL Environmental (GFL) will be responsible for residential curbside collection of garbage, recycling, and organic waste in the Town of Ladysmith.

Collection routes will remain unchanged, and the list of accepted items will stay the same.

Residents can continue to place their existing bins at the curb for collection.

The Town is working with GFL to finalize the 2026 collection schedule in the coming days.

In the event of inclement weather, GFL has informed the Town that they plan to deploy a second truck the following day to recover missed collections.

Should severe weather cause delays beyond one day, residents will be required to carry over their materials to their next scheduled collection day. Any accumulated extra material resulting from the delay will be collected.

GFL is also working on securing a dedicated phone line for residents to report any service-related issues. This information will also be provided to residents when it becomes available.
