Ladysmith, BC — The Town of Ladysmith is advising residents of upcoming sanitary sewer main flushing.
Flushing is scheduled from December 15 to December 19, between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm in the area from Methuen Street to Clark Road, and from Jamison Road to the Trans-Canada Highway.
Sanitary sewer flushing is necessary to remove gravel, grease, and debris that can lead to blockages.
During this work, residents are urged to keep toilet lids closed, especially in basements and on first floors. The high-pressure water used during flushing may cause minor backflow in household pipes, resulting in toilet water splashing.
Residents may also notice a sewer odour if flushing clears standing water from drain traps. This can be resolved by flushing toilets and running water through all drains, including floor drains.
For questions about the flushing program or in the event of an emergency, residents can contact Infrastructure Services at 250-245-6445 or 250-245-6400.
