Town holding public ceremony for Lot 108 – Phase 2 upgrades

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ladysmith, BC — The Town of Ladysmith will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 30 at 11:00 am to officially open the new pickleball courts and celebrate the upcoming completion of the Lot 108 Phase 2 Implementation Plan.

The ceremony will take place at the new pickleball courts, which are located at 1337 4th Avenue, adjacent to the Forrest Field practice pitch. Parking is available in front of the courts and can be accessed via 4th Avenue.

“These upgrades mark a major milestone in realizing Ladysmith’s long-term vision for a vibrant, inclusive, and multi-use community park at Forrest Field,” says Mayor Deena Beeston. “We look forward to celebrating this significant achievement with the community.”

Phase 2 upgrades to Lot 108 include outdoor pickleball courts, a bike skills park, an outdoor fitness area, a perimeter trail, and a paved parking lot that can accommodate 34 vehicles.

The pickleball courts and outdoor fitness area have already been completed and are open for public use. The bike park and perimeter trail are expected to be open to the public in the coming weeks.

Funding for Lot 108 Phase 2 upgrades comes from the Town's Parks Reserve and Development Cost Charges and the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF), a funding source for local infrastructure that is administered by the Union of BC Municipalities.
