Town of Ladysmith and CUPE Local 401 Ratify New Collective Agreement

Ladysmith, BC — The Town of Ladysmith and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401 (CUPE 401) are pleased to announce the ratification of a new four-year collective agreement.

The agreement, ratified on July 9, 2026, is retroactive to January 1, 2026, and will remain in effect through December 31, 2029.

Over the term of the new agreement, general wages will increase 4%, 5%, 5%, and 4%, reflecting the shared commitment of both parties to maintaining a competitive and sustainable compensation framework for employees.

“This agreement reflects our commitment to providing fair and competitive compensation for our dedicated employees while maintaining fiscal responsibility on behalf of Ladysmith taxpayers,” said Trish McConnell, the Town’s Manager of Human Resources. “We appreciate the collaborative and respectful approach taken by both bargaining teams throughout negotiations, which enabled us to reach a mutually beneficial outcome.”

The Town extends its thanks to the bargaining representatives from both CUPE 401 and the Town for their professionalism, cooperation, and commitment to achieving a positive result for employees and the community.
