Town holding public opening ceremony for Ladysmith Bike Park

Ladysmith, BC — The Town of Ladysmith will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the first phase of the new Ladysmith Bike Park and celebrate another milestone in the Lot 108 Phase 2 Implementation Plan.

The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 29 at 11:00 am at the bike park, which is located at Jim Cram Drive, adjacent to Forrest Field and the pickleball courts. Parking is available near the bike park and can be accessed via Jim Cram Drive.

"It's rewarding to see this project continue to come to life," says Mayor Deena Beeston. "The Bike Park adds another unique recreation opportunity for Ladysmith and reflects our commitment to creating public spaces that encourage healthy, active lifestyles."

The Ladysmith Bike Park is designed to support riders of all skill levels and a variety of bike types, including mountain, hybrid, and BMX. Motorized or electric bikes are not permitted at the Ladysmith Bike Park under any circumstance as they will cause damage to the groomed dirt trails.

The Ladysmith Bike Park is part of the Town's Phase 2 upgrades, identified in the Town's 2019 Lot 108 Park Plan. These upgrades also include the recently opened pickleball courts, outdoor fitness equipment, and a perimeter trail.

Funding for Lot 108 Phase 2 upgrades comes from the Town's Parks Reserve and Development Cost Charges and the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF), a funding source for local infrastructure that is administered by the Union of BC Municipalities.
