Public Notice: Wildfire in Stocking Lake area

Ladysmith, BC — During the late evening hours on August 18, 2026, BC Wildfire Services (BCWS) crews responded to a small wildfire in the Stocking Lake and Heart Lake area.

As of 11:00 am on August 19, 2026, the wildfire, which is identified as V61699 by BCWS, is approximately 0.1 hectares in size and has been downgraded from out of control to being held.

BCWS crews continue to respond to the wildfire and residents may hear or see activity related to the response efforts.

There is currently no threat to Ladysmith’s residents, or the Town’s infrastructure, including the water plant.

Ladysmith Fire/Rescue crews are ready to respond if needed.

The Town will provide further updates when the situation changes.
