Brown Drive Park and Kinsmen Playground Wooden Play Structure Replacement

The Town of Ladysmith is advising residents that the wooden play structure at Brown Drive Park and Kinsmen Playground will be closed to the public beginning Monday, August 24, 2026, as work begins to replace the existing wooden playground structure.

What to expect:

August 24: Construction fencing will be installed around the wooden play structure, and the area will be closed. Crews will demolish and remove the existing wooden structure and construct a new accessible ramp.

September 4: Installation of the new play structure is expected to begin.

The new play structure is anticipated to reopen to the public approximately two weeks after construction begins, subject to construction progress and site conditions.

The area where the existing wooden play structure is located will be closed to the public during this time.

Once complete, the new play structure will feature durable metal components and improved accessibility, creating a more inclusive and long-lasting play space for the community.

The existing wooden structure is being replaced after significant dry rot was identified in several of its components.

The Town appreciates the community’s patience while this work is completed and looks forward to providing an improved play space for local families and residents.
