Candidates declared for 2026 General Local Election

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ladysmith, BC —
The list of eligible candidates running in the 2026 General Local Election for the Town of Ladysmith is now official.

The nomination period closed at 4:00 pm on September 11. Candidates had until 4:00 pm Friday, September 18 to withdraw.

A total of 2 candidates will run for the Office of the Mayor while an additional 9 candidates will run for council. Eligible voters will be able to choose one candidate for Mayor and up to six candidates for Councillor.

The following individuals have been declared by the Chief Election Officer as eligible mayoral candidates:

Renée Hutchinson

Bethea Penny
John Scott

General voting will take place on Saturday, October 17 between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm at the Frank Jameson Community Centre. Advance voting will be held on Wednesday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 14 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm at City Hall.
