Frank Jameson Community Centre Update

The Town of Ladysmith is advising residents that construction supply issues and additional roof deck repairs identified during the Frank Jameson Community Centre roof replacement project have resulted in further schedule delays.

The roof replacement project is a significant investment in maintaining and improving the long-term integrity of the facility.  During construction, additional roof repairs were identified that must be completed before work can safely proceed.  These structural repairs are necessary to ensure the safety, functionality, and longevity of the building for community use.

As a result, the Gymnasium and Fitness Studio are currently anticipated to reopen on or about Monday, October 19, subject to construction progress and weather conditions.

Materials required to complete the repairs are expected to arrive this week, with construction anticipated to resume thereafter, weather permitting.

Programs and Facility Operations

  • Registered participants and impacted user groups will be contacted directly regarding cancellations, postponements, or changes to scheduled activities.
  • Programs, drop-in activities, and user group bookings affected by the closure will continue to be postponed and/or cancelled until the spaces reopen.
  • The Pool and Fitness Centre remain open and are not impacted by the construction delays.

Frank Jameson Community Centre remains an active construction site. Visitors may experience increased noise and activity, and portions of the upper parking lot may be periodically affected by construction equipment, material deliveries, contractor access, and other project-related activities.

The Town recognizes the impact these delays may have on residents, user groups, and program participants and appreciates the community's ongoing patience and understanding. Completing these necessary repairs now will help ensure the facility remains safe, reliable, and available for community use well into the future. Updates will continue to be shared through the Town of Ladysmith website, social media channels, and direct communication with registered participants and affected user groups.
