FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ladysmith, BC — The Town of Ladysmith is encouraging eligible electors who are unable to vote in person in the 2026 Municipal Election to apply for a mail ballot.
Applications are now being accepted, with mail ballot packages currently expected to be available in early October, subject to printer delivery.
Eligible electors can apply for a mail ballot by completing a Mail Ballot Application Form. Applications will be accepted until 12:00 pm on Friday, October 16, 2026.
“Mail ballots are another option available to eligible electors who may not be able to vote in person on General Voting Day. We encourage anyone who plans to vote by mail to apply early and allow enough time for their ballot to be received by the deadline,” says Sue Bouma, the Town’s Chief Election Officer.
Applications can be submitted in person at City Hall, 410 Esplanade, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, or by email to vote@ladysmith.ca, fax to 250-245-6411, or mail to PO Box 220, Ladysmith, BC V9G 1A2.
Once mail ballot packages are available, electors can choose to pick up their ballot package at City Hall, designate someone to pick it up on their behalf, or have it mailed to a residential or alternate address.
Electors who would like to have their ballot mailed to them are encouraged to submit their application by Friday, October 9 to allow sufficient time for delivery through Canada Post.
Completed ballots can be returned by mail or courier or dropped off at City Hall until 4:00 pm on October 16. Mail ballots will also be accepted on General Voting Day at the Frank Jameson Community Centre, 810 6th Avenue. Ballots received after 8:00 pm Saturday, October 17, 2026, will not be accepted, regardless of postmark dates.
Electors are reminded to carefully follow the instructions provided with their mail ballot package and ensure all required forms are completed and returned.
The Mail Ballot Application Form and additional information about mail ballot voting are available on the Town of Ladysmith’s election webpage.
