UPDATED 8:55 p.m. -- Damaged Gas Line Fixed

Ladysmith, September 28, 2018, 9:00 pm  --

We are very happy to report that the bypass repair to the damaged gas pipe is complete.  All evacuees are able to go home.  Fortis Gas was able to maintain positive pressure for the entire town including the mills throughout the day.  Thank you Fortis BC, Ladysmith Fire/Rescue, Town crews and residents for your support and patience.

Residents in the area nearest the damaged gas line on 4th Avenue were evacuated as a precaution and those who needed it received help and food at the Frank Jameson Community Centre.

The gas line was damaged earlier today on 4th Avenue in ‘the dip’, near the Rocky Creek Crossing.  Ladysmith Fire Rescue attended immediately, and some nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution.
