Town statement regarding Spring Clean-Up

Ladysmith, BC — The Town of Ladysmith is aware of the concerns expressed by residents regarding this year’s Spring Clean-Up.

Mayor and Council, together with Town staff, are actively looking at how we can improve the Spring Clean-Up process to ensure this doesn’t happen again next year.

Waste Connections, the Town’s contracted service provider, will not be returning to collect uncollected items this year. This decision was made to avoid additional costs to taxpayers.

The Town recognizes that the annual Spring Clean-Up is an important service for residents and appreciates everyone’s patience and feedback.

Residents who have left items for pick-up on our streets are asked to remove them and dispose of them properly as quickly as possible.

"We encourage everyone who’s able to lend a hand and help their neighbours remove any remaining items. We realize this situation isn't ideal. However, this is a chance for us to come together as a community—supporting one another and showing the kind of neighbourly spirit that makes our town such a special place to live," says Mayor Deena Beeston.

Additional tags can be purchased for extra household waste only and used on your regular collection days. Tags are available for purchase in person at City Hall or the Frank Jameson Centre for $3 each, or $6 for a booklet of 15 tags—tax included.

The Town of Ladysmith respectfully acknowledges that we gather and work on the unceded territory of the Stz'uminus First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land.
