Ladysmith, BC – Work is set to begin on the Aggie Field Drainage Project on Monday, November 3, 2025.
The project will include the construction of a new rain garden on the uphill side of Aggie Field, designed to capture and impound large storm flows and gradually release water into the downstream storm drain system.
As a result of the construction work, the lower parking lot at Aggie Field will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians Monday to Friday, 24 hours a day, from November 3 until mid-December.
Pedestrian access to Aggie Hall will remain open via exterior walkways, and all doors of Aggie Hall will continue to be accessible. Staff will be on-site to help direct foot traffic.
Additionally, the Town will be coordinating with user groups and those with bookings at Aggie Hall and Aggie Field to minimize disruptions.
“The Aggie Field Drainage Project is an important step in managing stormwater and improving field conditions for our community,” said Mayor Beeston.
Construction is expected to be completed by mid-December, with restoration of disturbed areas finished in time for the spring season.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly and follow signage on site. The Town thanks the public for their patience while these essential upgrades are completed.
