Ladysmith, BC — The Town of Ladysmith is pleased to announce that an online survey regarding the future of City Hall is now available on Let's Talk Ladysmith.
The survey is available until June 10 at 11:59 pm and can be accessed on Let’s Talk Ladysmith. Registration is not required to complete the survey, although the Town encourages all residents and interested parties to create an account on Let's Talk Ladysmith.
Hard copies of the survey will be available at City Hall and Frank Jameson Community Centre. Completed hard copies must be returned to City Hall or FJCC by 4:00 pm on June 10.
The Town is currently seeking feedback from residents on four potential options regarding the future of City Hall.
The four options are:
Status quo (no additional office space)
Leasing additional existing office space
Constructing new office space
Purchasing existing office space
Options involving constructing or purchasing a facility would require a referendum to seek voter approval for borrowing funds. Full details regarding the options can be found on Let's Talk Ladysmith.
The survey, which can be completed in under five minutes, asks participants to rank the four options using a Likert scale.
“Decisions about the future of City Hall will have a lasting impact on our community, and we want to ensure residents have the opportunity to share their perspectives,” said Mayor Deena Beeston. “Whether it’s maintaining the status quo, leasing, purchasing, or constructing a new facility, Council wants to hear what matters most to the community as we consider the best path forward for Ladysmith.”
To ensure all residents can provide feedback, the Town has scheduled a third open house for June 10 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Frank Jameson Community Centre Program Room, located at 810 6th Avenue.
The open houses will be drop-in, come-and-go events where participants can review background information, learn about key considerations for each option, and provide feedback on the options. Town staff and consultants will be available on-site to answer questions from participants.
"We are pleased to be able to offer an additional open house to the public. This is an important decision for the community, and we want to hear from and engage with as many residents as possible throughout the process," says Nicholas Pescod, the Town’s Communication & Engagement Specialist. “We encourage anyone who is unable to attend the open houses to complete the survey on Let’s Talk Ladysmith.”
Open Houses:
Thursday, June 4, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm (Aggie Hall, 1110 1st Avenue)
Saturday, June 6, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm (1st Avenue and Gatacre Street – outdoors)
Wednesday, June 10, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm (FJCC Program Room, 810 6th Avenue)
