The Town of Ladysmith has taken additional measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 and protect the health of our employees and citizens. We will be closing all public offices as of noon on Tuesday, until further notice.
This closure applies to our offices at City Hall, Development Services and Public Works, and is meant as a necessary precaution to help prevent the spread of the virus.
Although offices are closed to the public, we will do our very best to carry on business as usual over the telephone and by electronic mail. We will continue to maintain all of our essential services such as utilities, garbage collection, communications, finance and governance, parks and street maintenance.
These measures are meant to safeguard the public health of our residents, in accordance with the latest recommendations from the Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry to limit public gatherings to 50 people and practice social distancing.
The drop box at City Hall will continue to be monitored for payments relating to Dog Licence and Business Licence renewals.
The Town announced on Monday evening that Town-run facilities such as Frank Jameson Community Centre, Aggie Hall and Forrest Field would also be closing as part of a coordinated response with the Cowichan Valley Regional District.
As a result of the closure of Town-run facilities, we have suspended all spring break day camps and classes as well as cancelling all rentals at Aggie Hall and Forrest Field until further notice.
The closure of Aggie Hall and Forrest Field will impact community programming and rentals and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Refunds will automatically be provided in the next few days.
All future public notices from the Town related to Covid-19 will be distributed through our email newsletter, posted on social media, published on our website, posted on the front door of all Town offices and facilities, as well as on the bulletin board at the corner of First Avenue and High Street.
City Hall, Development Services, Infrastructure Services and Parks, Recreation and Culture office staff will be available during regular business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to answer questions from the public.
We will also be distributing future public notices to be posted at the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association, 49th Parallel Grocery Store, Save-On-Foods, Guardian Hillside Family Pharmacy, Ladysmith Pharmasave, RX Drug Mart and the Canada Post office.
The Town, in consultation with its CVRD member municipalities, will continue to follow the recommendations of the Provincial Health Officer and health authorities with respect to other actions we may need to take to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 in our community.
