The Town of Ladysmith is launching a new yard waste pilot project this spring as we make it easier for you to dispose of unwanted debris.
Two door-to-door pick up dates are planned for April 26-30 and May 26-June 1, 2021 (the last collection day of the month). In addition to solid waste, Waste Connections is collecting yard waste as part of your regularly scheduled pick up day.
A charge of fourteen ($14.00) dollars per unit per month is imposed on every owner of a dwelling unit. This covers - one 77 litre (44 pound) container per household picked up every second week. If you have extra garbage, tickets can be purchased for $2.00 or a book of 6 for $10.00, at City Hall, 410 Esplanade, or Frank Jameson Community Centre, 810 6th Avenue. All garbage cans must have handles. Acceptable garbage items are listed on the collection schedule below, while our Organics and Recycling Separation fact sheet helps you know what you can recycle or put into the organics collection.
Not sure what route you are on? Find out on the "Collections Route by Street" document, look for your road and it will show you the colour and number of your schedule. Once you know which schedule is yours open the corresponding document. All garbage must be out by 8 a.m. on your pickup day
A great resource for finding a place to recycle something is the Recycling Council of British Columbia Recyclopedia. The CVRD also has a Cowichan Recyclopedia. Or call the CVRD Recycling Hotline at 1.800.665.3955.

In 2013, the facility underwent a major renovation and expansion. Peerless Road Depot is now the region's largest public recycling drop off depot, hosting 21 grade-separated bays and extensive covered areas.
