Town contractor starting waterfront uplands site investigation

The Town of Ladysmith and our contractor Golder Associates Ltd.  is starting site investigation work to remediate the uplands area as part of our ongoing implementation of the Waterfront Area Plan.

This phase of the work involves digging, drilling and sampling of the soil and groundwater in locations along the waterfront, such as around the Machine Shop and Ladysmith Community Marina lower parking lot.

The site investigation work involves the use of heavy machinery and in the coming days, the public may notice an increase in drilling activity as part of the sampling process. Some parking areas and trails will be closed for safety reasons.

The public is kindly asked to avoid approaching Golder employees due to the attention required when safely operating the machinery.  Instead, please direct your questions regarding this project to info@ladysmith.ca

We also apologize for any impacts to parking due to the work.

Following completion of the site investigation, the Town intends to seek Provincial approval for our plan to remediate the uplands.
