In celebration of 75 years serving Ladysmith and the surrounding community, the Ladysmith & District Credit Union (LDCU) has generously donated a dogwood tree to the Town of Ladysmith.
Members of Ladysmith Council and representatives of the LCDU gathered on Thursday afternoon to plant the tree on the south-west corner of First Avenue and Roberts Street.
"I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the entire LDCU team for this generous donation. For more than 75 years the Ladysmith & District Credit Union has supported our community through good times and bad," said Mayor Aaron Stone. "As we work together to build the brightest future possible for Ladysmith, this tree will stand as a reminder of this continuing investment and commitment to our shared prosperity."
The LDCU’s charter was established in 1944 and today the credit union serves upwards of 5,000 members.
"The Ladysmith & District Credit Union would like to present this tree to the Town of Ladysmith, A tree is a symbol of our connection to the Town," said LDCU CEO John de Leeuw.
"A tree's roots are deep, much like LDCU's roots in the community; a tree is strong, as is our connection to the Town; and a tree has a long life, and for 75 years we have lived and breathed in the community of Ladysmith."

Council is proud to serve the over 9,000 residents who call the Town of Ladysmith home. Mayor and Council meet regularly as both Council and the Committee of the Whole.
