Cool off at the Frank Jameson Community Centre

The Town of Ladysmith is once again offering a Cooling Centre at the Frank Jameson Community Centre as a significant heat wave is expected for the south coast of B.C. over the coming days.

The FJCC Cooling Centre will be open as part of our regular hours, Wednesday to Friday until 8 pm. Come hang out in the lobby, fill up your waterbottle and escape the heat. We’re also pet-friendly so please don’t hesitate to bring your companion animal.

As a reminder, these hotter than normal temperatures increase the potential for heat-related illnesses. Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and try to stay in a cool place.

Check on older family, friends and neighbours to make sure they are also comfortable and staying hydrated.

Also, never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
