Proof of vaccination requirements for Ladysmith recreation classes and programs

As part of the Town of Ladysmith’s ongoing effort to offer services while helping to keep our community safe, some patrons visiting the Frank Jameson Community Centre (FJCC) will be asked to provide proof of vaccination, with exemptions for specific classes and areas within the building.

The rules align with the Provincial Health Order, which came into effect Monday, September 13 and mandates that proof of vaccination, such as your BC Vaccine Card, along with photo ID is required in certain circumstances at recreation facilities.

Proof of vaccination is not required when entering City Hall, Development Services and Infrastructure Services, or to make general enquiries at the FJCC reception counter.

The PHO’s order includes the following specifics for indoor recreation programs:

No Proof of Vaccination Required:

  • * All participants attending classes and programming in aquatics area, including: parent-assist classes, aquatic fitness classes and lap swimming;
  • * All parent/caregivers attending swim lessons as spectators;
  • * All participants in child and youth recreation programs;
  • * All patrons accessing the washroom, change room, vending machines and/or showers;
  • * Indoor organized group programs with less than 50 people, including: such as language classes, art and meditation, etc.

    Proof of Vaccination Required:

    * All patrons 12 years or older attending dryland fitness and programs, including general fitness, spin and yoga.
    * All patrons regardless of age accessing the Fitness Centre.
    * All participants in indoor adult group and team sports, including: indoor soccer and pickleball.

We appreciate your understanding and respectful communication during this transition.

Due to the potential for changes to the Provincial Health Order, we recommend bringing your BC Vaccine Card and a valid piece of photo ID when visiting the FJCC.

We will continue to provide you with any updates on our website, social media and through our e-newsletter.
