General Local Election: Nominated Council candidates list now available

Ladysmith Council candidates who filed a nomination package with the Town of Ladysmith during the legislated nomination period are listed on our website.

The nomination period closed on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 4:00 pm.

There are 11 candidates for Councillor and one for Mayor.  Click here for a full list of unofficial Council candidates.

Nominated candidates have until Friday, September 16, 2022 to withdraw their name from the election ballot.

Official declaration of Council candidates by the Chief Election Officer, including those who are acclaimed, will occur after this date.

The official campaign period then begins on Saturday, September 17, 2022.

Key dates and information on casting your ballot

All eligible voters in the Town of Ladysmith will have the opportunity to elect their Council consisting of one Mayor and six Councillors, on General Voting Day, Saturday, October 15, 2022.  Voting on this day will take place at the Frank Jameson Community Centre, 810 6th Avenue.

Voters will also elect School District No. 68 Board Trustees.

Additionally, the Town is providing advance voting opportunities on Wednesday, October 5 and 12, 2022 from 8 am-8 pm at City Hall, 410 Esplanade.

As in previous years, the Town is offering Mail Ballots, which are available to all electors. More information on this process can be found here on our website.
